Scene 1
INT. ALICE’S ROOM- NIGHT
[FADE UP]
[CU ON THE CLOCK]
Alice is getting ready to go to sleep, turning off the lights at 11 p.m.
[FADE DOWN]
INT. ALICE’S ROOM- MORNING
[FADE UP]
[CU ON THE CLOCK]
Alice wakes up at 6 a.m. to start another day of college.
[POV]
She cares about the way she looks and worries constantly about everything. She has bags under her eyes and looks exhausted. She doesn’t want to be late for college, so she rushes, not having any breakfast.
EXT. OUTSIDE WALKING TO COLLEGE - MORNING
Alice looking up at the sky and wondering about things like usual.
Walking to the steps to enter college.
[FADE DOWN]
CUT TO :
INT. ALICE’S ROOM- NIGHT
Alice doesn’t do much after school. She doesn’t watch t.v. or talk to friends. She reads, draws, and uses the internet most of the time. She’s quiet alone, living only with her dog, Jenna. She tells everything to Jenna.
Alice
Oh, Jenna…Why can’t I be like other girls?
(frowning)
Why don’t I go join some sport and force myself to fit in…
(smirking)
yeah right, i hate sports.
Oh, whatever. It doesn’t matter as long as I have music in my life, and you, Jenna.
(hugging her dog and smiling)
[CU ON ALICE’S DIARY]
[POV]
Alice takes out her diary and begins to write in it
Entry #32 :
It would be lovely to meet a guy though. One who I can trust and love. But…I don’t want to get hurt again. I don’t want to go back to my depressing ways…it’s too much for me. Love sucks….but being lonely sucks even more.
[CU ON CANDLES AND HER SHUT EYES]
Alice closes her diary and takes out a candle, plays a mantra, sets herself in a meditative posture and meditates for about 30 minutes. Repeating the words “hum”. This helps her relax.
[FADE DOWN]
EXT. OUTSIDE ALICE’S HOUSE - MORNING.
Alice is sitting on the stoop, with a lit cigarette in her hand, sipping on coffee and eating cheesecake. She smokes every other day which is a horrible addiction but she can’t seem to quit. The sky is silent, no birds flying around, no clouds. The fire is burning. She’s inhaling very slowly.
CUT TO :
INT. GUITAR CENTER - DAY
Alice is in the piano section, playing a song.
[FADE OUT]
